I remember Sharron from the first through sixth at Edgewood. She was always so sweet.

Sharron was my very best friend from 3rd grade at Edgewood until she passed.  She was such a kind and giving person.  She always had money for lunch at the little store across the street from Edgewood and always shared with me.  Her mother worked at a bar at night but managed to raise her children in a tiny house in the alley off East Third St.  Her Mom gave her tip money for her lunches.  I remember how Sharron was embarrassed to bring me to her house,  but ended up moving down the street from me on Cherry Street when her mother married Cliff.  Pauline and Cliff were like my second set of parents.   My parents never gave us money, only sack lunches so this was a real treat for me.  We kept in touch through all those years.  Carol Bullard and I attended her memorial service in Lubbock.  Her mother was a precious part of my early childhood.

AND......we both had a crush on Danny Fulkerson, I believe in the 5th or 6th grade.  He was the only kid around that had a trampoline in his backyard.   Like most  girls back then, we had tiffs over boys and other friends, but always seem to get over it and stay the best of friends.

So many fond memories and Happy Times!!!!!

Joyce, what a sweet story of your friendship with Sharron. I remember the two of you being best friends and always seeing you together. It is interesting that I did not know any of the details you described about her mom. I remember us all being friends and the playground time...but I was not aware of any crush! And what would we have done without The Little Store across from Edgewood? So many good memories from those days! Looking forward to catching up at the reunion!

Joyce, thank you for sharing that story about Sharon. I remember some very fun times that the 3 of us shared. That store across from Edgewood! OMG! Totally forgot about it. Penny candy and ice cream push-ups were such a treat after school. Wish I could make it to the 50th but just not going to work out! Everyone have fun!

Go Rockets,

Bernadette
