He is survived by numerous nephews and nieces, who he loved very much. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to his niece, Stacie Leverett, who took care of him during the last part of his life, and Kenneth Thompson, who was always there to get Steve out of a jam, and Elizabeth Silva, who looked in on him often.
Steve is preceded in death by his grandparents, Dannie Lee Lightfoot and Jewell James Lightfoot. He is also preceded in death by his mother, Dolores Lightfoot Alexander, and his father, Albert Dale Alexander, and his sister, Deborah Thompson.
Those who knew Steve, knew he was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys Football fan. He enjoyed many years of softball with friends. He enjoyed working at Furr’s, Lawrence Brothers, Electric Supply Company, and Home Depot, where he made many friends. Early on, Steve developed a love of cooking from his grandparents, he owned and operated two restaurants. He loved fishing, and previously had managed Lake Van in Dexter, New Mexico. While at Lake Van, he helped organize and put on fishing tournaments, and helped organize and begin the annual Fourth of July fireworks show. He was loving and easygoing.
He was a father, a brother, a grandfather, and a friend. Though his presence from this Earth will be sorely missed, we rejoice knowing that he is with our Lord in Heaven. Rest in peace Steve, we will always carry your memory in our hearts, and “GO COWBOYS!”
